you should? learn what you are supporting. the fur trade gives thousands of jobs in the US alone. without this trade furbearers easily overpopulate and suffer from disease and starvation. that means anti-hunting, anti-trapping, and anti-fur is pro-cruelty. ask your local fish and wildlife officer or your states furbearer biologist the importance of hunting and trapping. by the way animals are not really skinned alive.

@beavthetrapper Of course in certain places animals are killed before being skinned but unfortunately I’ve accidently come across videos of animals being tortured and skinned alive which have scarred me forever. Certain countries don’t have animal protection laws. We also never know what goes on behind closed doors. On the issue of killing for fur, it’s one thing if the meat was used as well but in most cases animals are killed? solely because of how they look. I don’t think this is right.

@FennecLuffer483 They have many great replicas of fake fur out there now that it can? be hard to tell the difference. But personally if I paid the price for fake fur and got real fur, I would never want to wear it knowing about the suffering the animal could have possibly endured. (and plus I don’t think it’s morally right to kill just for fur)

@MrOperadivo there has never been a video of an animal being skinned alive that was proven to not be a hoax. if an animal was skinned alive it would fight back which would damage the hide, if it was starved in order to make it to weak to fight then the hide would be thin. either way it would turn a high dollar? hide into a cheap hide. some states won’t let you sell the meat and there is usually more than the trapper can eat. you have also missed the big picture of it preventing overpopulation.

Someone? said something about fake fur looking more real…. I guess If ur some city slicker that’s never had a pet before, I can see if you can’t tell the difference. But there are just basics to the fur that you can’t copy.
And well, generally they aren’t killed “just for fur” their meat is often used for pet foods, and processed into other materials: ie: glue, etc.
I personally love fur. But however, I also have my own morals of “if I couldn’t do it, I won’t eat it or wear it” basically what

@beavthetrapper Why over population? these animals are raised in farms, so they arent hunting any thing, they are just growing and skinning animals in a cruel way. The actually are… just look up some videos. After you watch them you will never be the same.? Enter Peta’s website, and look for “skinned alive”. There is a video.Thats how your nice clothes are made. Hope you still buy those after you watch that.

@salmuchis3 first off peta has refused to have the tape tested to prove it’s authenticity, which means they don’t want it tested (for a reason). second not all fur coats come from ranch? furs, many come from animals that have been hunted or trapped, you can get coats from them and avoid ranched furs by buying fur coats made from species that are not ranched at this time. third i don’t have a fur coat, they simply cost a bit much for me at this time.

@salmuchis3 forth why would i go to peta’s website, i have heard their lies. check the FBI website and look up peta, they? have funded know terrorists. are you also aware peta dosn’t want anyone to own pets. how about their high euthanization rates, which if they would spend money on the pets and not on anti-hunting and anti-trapping lawsuits and campains, they would be able to save more of these pets that people send them money to save.

now on top of all there here is a suggestion for you and anyone who is anti-fur. contact your local fish and wildlife department and ask them the? importance of the fur trade and how much it helps the wild animal populations.

@eatmyplum You have to skin an animal to make it into meat.
Killing a wild animal for fur is less inhumane than what the average cow goes? through, because it’s far more brief.
Eat your dead cow if you want. I’ll skip both the meat and the fur.

I wouldn’t think it is so bad to? kill animals for fur as long as they actually KILL them first in a humane and almost painless way before they skin it.

unfortunately Raccoon dogs need? to be exterminated; they’re invasive in Europe.
And stop blaming China; the hunt in Russia is also pretty big.

@TheGzeus Um, they don’t use the hide from beef cows for hide leather because they have to skin it alive to have the best quality product and I’m sure? they don’t eat diseased racoon dogs so it’s a total waste…period.
TheGzeus
December 2nd, 2011 at 10:35 PM
@RoseWhiteRoseRed It’s illegal to skin them alive? in the US. And? They’re killed fairly horribly quite often, but even that’s not the point.
I never said anything about eating raccoon dogs. I was illustrating that cows go through far more suffering, and that the idea that eating meat is a somehow nicer form of murder is ludicrous.
Pretty feckin reactionary, aren’t ye?
